Events

Socials

Every Thursday, we have a social from 7.30pm. It's probably the best time for new people to come along and find out a bit more about Matilda. We have a meal and hang out together, and the HackLab's open for anyone to use.

If you'd like to cook dinner, add your name to the list here.

Meetings

Meetings now take place every second Monday. The new meeting structure is intended to be a meeting of representatives of the different MATILDA collectives. There may also be extra general meetings schedulded to deal with major issues which arise. Arrive at 7.30 pm for a quick cuppa before a prompt 7.45 pm start.

Email lists

There are 2 email lists that anyone can join.

The matilda discussion list is for everything Matilda and is fairly high volume (often 10 or more messages per day). You can view the message archives without joining first and post messages too: matilda [at] lists.aktivix.org.

The low volume matilda announcements list only gets messages from the list owners and is mainly for Matilda events. This list also has open archives. You can subscribe via the riseup subscribe page or by sending a blank email to matilda-subscribe@lists.riseup.net.

A NEW CREATIVE MOVEMENT HAS BEEN CREATED ! !

Libertarian - Cycle (very short founding statement)

For encouragement and building of a libertarian creative movement against the boring captialist class system in society.

Some themes of the movement:

  • Art made from recycled materials to a certain standard
  • The only limit for the artistic spaces and pieces is your imagination, ie squatting for art exhibitions is legal ! etc
  • Many forms of art could be applied .....

Gig Space Collective

The aim of the gig space collective is primarily to create an autonomous not for profit venue, working under the DIY ethic, where fiercely independent grassroots music, art and creativity can emerge and flourish without corporate music industry involvement and manipulation.

Our role is to help people who want to use the space to organise a gig to smoothly set this up. Booking an event requires proposing the event to the weekly Matilda meeting (Monday at 7.45pm) or to the Matilda email list. Ideally Matilda needs 7 days to consider the event before agreeing to give it the go ahead. But short notice can be accommodated if necessary. There are also guidelines to running an event at Matilda (see above 'blue print for doing events'). The collective can help people with these processes, also liasing with the cafe collective and bar arrangements, if needed.

Contact: matilda_gigspace@yahoo.co.uk

Collective meetings: If you would like to join us we meet 7pm every Monday - it's kept short 'n' sweet. Please feel free to come down and discuss your gig proposal with us.
