minutes, meeting, march 6

new proposals

  1. Art collective is in a state of flux, in that there is now a seperate art gallery collective who do practical stuff, but are also the de facto art colective at the moment as the de jure art collective is doing nowt. Discussion about getting keys cut for people using studios - decision made that collectives should ask/inform general meetings before getting extra keys cut.
  2. There's going to be a WTO-themed film showing to coincide with the social on Apr 6.

collective feedback

  1. ART/GALLERY COLLECTIVE: are having a closing party for current exhibition on wed 8 march, with a new exhibition opening soon. Request from a photographer to clear and use room currently designated as 'campaigns room' as part time studio. Agreed. Decided that there should be a time limit on how long somebody can bagsie a room for without actually doing anything with it - one month. Darkroom project revival to occur....
  2. BUILDINGS: are going to tackle making the toilet near the hacklab more salubrious next, having got all the toilets in the place working. Would like any spare coathangers/rails to get the free shop sorted.
  3. CAFE: Planning a posh dinner to raise funds for Iceland campaign, May 6. Now have mmetings on thurs at 6:30 and would like more people to join up and do stuff. Have established a blueprint for running socials (on website?) and may do one for mass cooking. Proposed that profits from food at socials organised with no specific cause should go to cafe. Fair nuff.
  4. GIG: raised some good money for Iceland at last social, which was class. Got loads of stuff coming up - see website - and would like help to run them. Also planning a few film nights at some point - punx, ALF, etc. Two requests: if you're planning to do something that invovles the gig spaces, email the colective to let them know to avoid clashes. Second, putting rubbish on the gantry does not suffice to get rid of it - quickly ends up looking minging - take it way with you. Skips nearby...
  5. CLOWNS: now meet every sunday, asked if they could use sleeping space and kitchen for training weekend, AOK.
  6. HACKLAB: there will soon be a noticeboard in the hacklab on which you can pin your tech help requests....

YF

decided to wait and see about a special meeting till all the mysterious facts are in....

faslane 365

agreed that matilda should help out, get involved, have people on organsing group. Contact Nick W if interested in principle in going uo to faslane for a couple of days sometime next autumn...

socials

MArch 16th: Cafe collective? perhaps> MArch 23rd: up for grabs... proposed that collectives try and commit by next meeting to do a social on some definite date in the future so they actually happen.

ISYF

(meeting somewhat freeform by this point) Did anyone actually tell ISYF what being a collective involves? Agreed to try and encourage their general participation in eg monday meetings, socials, etc.

Agenda items for next meeting for collectives to discuss in advance

  1. Tidiness: how can we make a better fist of keeping the place in reasonable state?
  2. leaflets/one liners: current description on website unsatisfactory. Can we come up with a decent one-line description we can actually use? Suggest that words "art", "music", and "activism" should figure.
