Matilda Monday meeting 31st October.

New people's proposals

A gardener has expressed interest in sorting out some allotments, but he wasn't present to clarify things.

Other Proposals

  • A film night for the Thursday 17th was accepted
  • The compost bin will be sorted out and temporarily removed next work day
  • Paint from SCRAP will be collected on Tuesday
  • Saving Iceland (the wilderness not the shop) a gathering for the last weekend in January (27/28/29) was proposed and accepted it will involve workshops raising awareness of damming the wilderness for aluminium smelting.
  • Bulb purchase for a projector in some sort of cost sharing with IndyMedia the cost (£350) scared some people the proposal was not accepted but more talking on the idea will happen.

Smoking

Issues relating to autonomous decision making were discussed some clarification was made

  1. No smoking in the kitchen AT ALL
  2. No smoking in the cafe when people are eating or when asked not to
  3. There are Non-Non-smoking areas in the building they should be used.

Feedback

  1. Craft collective: the second meeting happened more are planned and more projects
  2. Call to all clowns: no feedback due to absence.
  3. Art05: The Thursday opening show went really well lots of people came along for the show and the social. There were issues wrt donations on the bar, some money was collected but not enough. This is a general issue relating to bar and door in many situations, not just Art05. There is now a link from the official Art05 web site to Matilda.
  4. Gig collective: there was a Sunday gig it went well, the bands got paid! there is another gig on Tuesday. The gig took place in the old Tat room and it was suggested that it be kept Tat free for use as a performance space.

Finance

Some degree of transparency seems to be required either on the web or via monthly reports, the mood was against putting stuff on the web but some sort of accounts book to be kept in the building and available for Monday evening inspection was agreed on.

Vegan issues

The cafe is Vegan so no animal products are acceptable in the new kitchen, signs to this end should be created. Dairy products could be kept in the old kitchen and a fridge is being sourced.

IndyMedia Doc Fest

Now proposed for Thursday 24th-Saturday 26th November (a shift to a day earlier than previously proposed) this was accepted. Volunteers are needed for kitchen/door/bar/publicity duties. Screenings will be held in the meeting room. IMC are still thinking about a fund raiser and will finalize a date for it later.

Inclusivity

What is it, how do we make it happen this agenda item was a response to some e-mail list chat and more should be entered in to so as to prepare us for talking about this important issue next week.

Facilitators and cooks

Facilitator for next meeting confirmed though not a facilitator's little helper which maybe they should think about. Cooks for the next 3 socials are confirmed.

AOB

  • The web site is live and needs to be used collectives should think of providing some content.
  • Reports from the art collective and the buildings collective would be useful next week.
