Lost property

  • Lost property list, it was agreed to put one on the wall

Reports from collectives

  • Dissent weekend report back -- it was a great success, suggestion that a dissent group be set up in Sheffield.
  • Gig collective -- there is still a leak from a sink in the kitchen -- don't use the sink.
  • Art collective
  • No borders collective -- the magical mystery tour was a success

Cafe collective proposals

  • To set some opening times, Sat, Sun and possibly another day during the week, sandwich board on street advertising it, produce some publicity
  • Move cafe to the other side of the kitchen and remove partition, library could still use some of the space

There was some discussion on this, various practical considerations were raised, but the proposal was agreed in principal.

  • The kitchen is not for making snacks, it is for catering for events -- use the kettle in the old kitchen for cups of tea etc. Also please put in donations -- the money collected for tea and coffee is not covering their costs.

Party meeting

  • Fire signs to be improved
  • Window to be put in gate
  • Spy hole in door
  • Handrails to outside area
  • Tarp to catch falling glass in outside area
  • Some changes to be made to the events blueprint
  • A draft event form has been produced
  • Events cannot be fixed price, donations only

Gig policy

There was a long discussion...

The gig collective proposed that they be given a two month period to use the space and there was a consensus on this.

Flag swap

  • A new flag Matilda was suggested for the front of the building, there was consensus on this

Physical Repairs to the building

Last workday and next work day

  • Windows at the front of the building, proposal to hire a scaf tower and re-putty glazing and then again in a few weeks time to repaint the windows. People will be needed to help, tomorrow and this week and weekend and next Monday (except Wednesday).
  • It was agreed that money could be spent on fire signs.

Roles in Hunt Sab party

People are needed to help. A rota should be drawn up. A planning meeting is needed.

New Proposals

Film screening

Films about labour struggles, including Salt of the Earth, to run each week, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, it was agreed that this could go ahead.

Acoustic night

SWAN lost a lot of money at their conference, proposal for an acoustic evening to raise money for them, to come back with a more solid proposal.

Guidelines

PGA meeting report back, 4 people to draft some text and to report it back to a Monday meeting.

SIF horror film

Next Tuesday a horror film is being shot at Matilda.

Facilators for next week

Two people voluntered.

This has been set up.

Art05

Opening times has been on the list. Cafe to be open? Who will be on the door?

There was a meeting break and then a fewer number re-convened.

The proposal (since the Art05 fringe event was already accepted several weeks ago) is for:

  • Opening event on 27th October.
  • Opening times: Thursday, Friday and Saturday for one month 28th October - 26th November from 12 noon to 4pm.

The following issues were raised on the phone with the organiser Eric Winnert:


  • Volunteers - there are 5 so far
  • Access - what space are going to be open?
  • Cafe - what is expected?
  • Publicity for the event and during the main art 05 event is being organised. Leaflets to be brought to next Monday meeting.
  • Food and booze to be provided.
