Writer's Workshop

Suggested Goals:

• The aims of the Writer’s Group are:

1. To be a forum for talking about and writing stories about Sheffield

2. Supporting each other by sharing ideas and writing skills

3. Where necessary, giving people a helping hand with the IT side of stuff

4. Getting out there and learning about Sheffield by writing about it (,in the process introducing more people to Sheffield Indymedia - possibly bringing indymedia closer to the people at the same time)

5. Also, getting in and studying Sheffield's past & history (historical societies, libraries, on line research...) Interviewing our eldest.

6. Erode at the culture of political consumerism. Politics is not something you consume it is something you do!

The aim is also to end up with enough solid content to produce a regular hard copy – but that’s for a little further in the future! (.......)

• Other possible goals to be attained as a result of or indirectly from the above:

1. Organizing a group of creative devoted persons willing to contribute to creative 'leaflet writing' as necessary for the various SSF actions.

2. Outreach to local people to encourage them to stand up and publicise what is happening to their communities. Or: what happened (the elder population).

3. Be critical towards the attitudes of political consumption within the 'radical left'.

• Start doing some active research in the kind of bibliography that might eventually be helpful for any Writer's Workshop. (hence the hyperlink below).
