Meeting of Sheffield Against the G8 Coordinating group - every Wednesday at 7.30pm upstairs in the Rutland Arms
June
- Wednesday June 15 - June 17 — Convergance Space and Counter Conference - opening of convergence spaces in Sheffield for people to eat, sleep, plan, create, share, network and learn. See CounterConference to check program/offer workshop
Wednesday June 15
- 11am - Insurgent Breakfast at the Convergence Space, followed by Weapons of Mass Information with groups out in the street to raise awareness.
- 4:30pm - Critical Mass - Devonshire Green, details on the Sheffield against the G8 site
- 5.30pm - Demo at at Devonshire Green for the right to protest.
- 6pm - Demonstrate at the G8 Justice and Interior Ministers' Banquets at the Winter Gardens, protest outside the Lyceum Theatre, access from Arundel Gate opposite the Odeon, numbers to be limited by the police to 150. Called by Sheffield Stop the War Coalition.
- 9pm - Open Mic and Bands at the Convergence Space
Thursday June 16
- 10am to 5pm - Counter Conference (program) at the Convergence Space including workshops on the Make Borders History Campaign, Reclaiming your Power, Global Footprints, Thinking about Security, Civil Liberties at Large.
- 6pm - Demonstrate at the G8 Justice and Interior Ministers' Banquet at Cutlers Hall - at the Cathedral Tram Stop, access from East Parade (comming off Campo Lane), the police are limiting the numbers to 150. Called by Sheffield Stop the War Coalition.
- 7:30pm Make Poverty History Rice for Dinner, Devonshire Green. Check out the website Rice for Dinner or email ricefordinner@gmail.com.
- 9pm - Filmnight at the Convergance Space
Friday June 17
- 10am to 9:30pm - Counter Conference (program), at the Convergance Space, includes workshop and sessions on Make Poverty History and the G8, Faslane - WMDs discovered in the UK, Freedom of movement and the right to stay, Helping Africa? : Blairs Africa Gambit.
- 8pm till dawn - Insurgent Party - to celebrate our own humanity against the inhumanity of the G8, at the Convergance Space
- June 18 - Bike Caravan to Gleneagles begins in Brighton - see http://www.g8cyclecaravan.org/ and http://www.g8bikeride.org.uk/. People wanting to join from Sheffield can meet up with them at 9 Ladies.
July
- Saturday 2nd July - Edinburgh: Make Poverty History March: Organised by the Make Poverty History Coalition. To include anti-capitalist presence (Make Capitalism History). Check the website for details of the route.

- Sunday 3rd July - Glasgow: Cre8 Summit Street Carnival
- Sunday 3rd July - Glasgow:Make Borders History: A Magic Mystery Tour of Immigration Controls and the "Chain of Deportation". We visit some of the magicians who help asylum seekers "disappear". We will visit organisations involved in locking up and deporting Asylum seekers. Let's join the dots in the picture of detention and deportation. Check out the website for details.
- Sunday 3rd July - Edinburgh G8 Alternatives Summit: Organised by the G8 Alternatives coalition this counterconference "Ideas to Change the World" aims to present a serious ideological challenge to the corrupt policies and ideology of the G8. It will feature prominent speakers from around the world in eight plenary sessions and 36+ workshop/seminars.
- Monday 4th July - Faslane Big Blockade: You can't end poverty unless you end war.** Let's make the links** Faslane, which is situated 30 miles west of Glasgow, is one of Britain's most important military bases - home to Trident, Britain's own nuclear WMD Programme. Thousands of peace campaigners from around the world are called to non-violently blockade the base on Monday 4th July. Check out
- Monday 4th July - Carnival for Full Enjoyment: Central Edinburgh *No wage slavery *No benefits slavery *No army slavery *No debt slavery — Meet 12 noon, West End of Princes St/ Shandwick Place/ foot of Lothian Rd — Bring drums, music, banners, imagination for action against the G8 that expresses our resistance in work, out of work and wherever we live. Assert our desires for FULL ENJOYMENT with fun in the city — and begin to make capitalism & wage slavery history.
- Wednesday 6 July - Friday 8 July G8 Leaders Summit in Gleneagles, Perthshire, Scotland - for details on convergence sites in Scotland, actions, travelling to the summit and how you can get involved see www.dissent.org.uk
- Wednesday 6 July - Call out by People's Global Action for Day of Action against the G8. PGA are an international network of over 400 grassroots social movements who have been instrumental in co-ordinating global anti-capitalist resistance to institutions such as the WTO, IMF World Bank and the G8, linking local struggles for justice to global issues.
